Obituary for Anna Mae Meredith Rowan Ogilvie

Anna Mae Rowan Ogilvie, age 92, of Medford, Oregon, passed away peacefully of congestive heart failure with her loving family at her side, Thursday March 15, 2012 in Reno, Nevada.
She was born to the late John Edward and Edna Leona (Fullmer) Meredith on Apr. 30, 1919, in Lander, WY. She had one brother, John E. Meredith Jr. who preceded her in death in 1988. As kids they rode horses to the one room Countryman School until high school when they rode the bus 20 miles to Lander, WY. In 1938 she graduated from Fremont County Vocational High School, then married Charles “Smokey” Clyde Rowan who preceded her in death in 1979. They made their home together in Wyoming, before relocating to Medford, Oregon in 1949.
In June 2000 she married Edward K. Ogilvie who survives and they resided at Glenwood Mobile Home Park in Medford, OR.
She received a degree in cosmetology in Medford and continued her cosmetology education becoming an instructor, known as Mrs. Rowan, at the Medford Beauty School until she retired. During her teaching career she was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students.
Anna Mae was an active member of the Medford Presbyterian Church and later became an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Medford. In 1962 she joined the Moose Lodge and ascended to the rank of Senior Regent. In 2005 she joined Beta Sigma Phi. She was a lifetime traveler and took many trips with her husband, family and friends. Her favorite destinations were Hawaii and the Oregon Coast. She and her family took many camping trips. She was always on the go and loved driving her friends to church, shopping, dancing, Britt performances and other events. She spent her life caring for others and was always there for others whenever she could help. She adored all types of music; especially Jazz. Dancing was a favorite pastime, including the Charleston, the Twist and slow dancing. She loved flowers.
Survivors include her husband Edward, three children; Charles A. Rowan of Graham, TX, Ruby M. Rowan and Bonnie J. Edwards of Reno, NV, two grandchildren: Sandra M. Carter of White City, OR and Rick A. Lee of Reno, NV and two great-grandchildren: Branden Lee and Deanna Hover. She loved her “babies” and was always there for us.
