A funeral service will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 21 at Memory Gardens Chapel for Alice Aileen Lawrence. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. Lawrence, 96, of Phoenix, OR, died June 14, 2007. She was born Oct. 24, 1910 in Garrison, MT, to Wiley and Minnie Brunson. She and her husband, Mark Edward Lawrence, a childhood friend, were married Aug. 16, 1936 in Missoula, MT. She was married for 61 years; he preceded her in death in Dec. 1977.
From 1917 to 1921, she homesteaded with her family in the Swan River Valley north of Missoula. She graduated from Missoula County High School in 1929 and in 1931 from the Washington State Normal School in Cheney, in Elementary Education. From 1931 to 1936, she taught in rural schools in Swan Valley, Potomac and Target Range, MT. After her marriage, she was a homemaker and moved with her husband to Washington, Idaho, Colorado and Oregon in his career with the US Grazing Service and BLM. They moved to Medford in 1954. She was a member of Central Church of Christ in Medford.
Survivors include her son, Mark III and wife, Carolyn of Salem; son Linn of Pocatello, ID; granddaughter, Sara Lawrence of Corvallis and grandson, Mark IV of Milwaukie, OR; four nieces and four nephews.
