Alvin was born November 10, 1929, in Glendale, Calif., to Ellyn Neeley. He spent his childhood years in Glendale and much of his teenage years in Medford, Ore., living with his grandparents, Jim and Annie Neeley. Although he graduated from Glendale (California) High School, most of his friends resided in Medford with them having graduated from Rogue Valley area high schools in the late 40s.
In the late 40s, Alvin worked at the Mustang motorcycle factory in Glendale, Calif. He married Enid Gaynor in November 1948, in Reno, Nev., after having met her at the Medford Roller Rink. During the years after the marriage he worked at Skinner's car dealership. His sons, Mike and Gary, were born in 1949 and 1951. In the 50s, he owned a Mack truck and hauled logs and lumber. In the 60s, he managed several logging trucks and hauled heavy equipment for Ray Offord Logging. In the 70s, he owned and operated Al Edwards Sports Center. In the 80s and early 90s, he alternated between hauling diesel fuel and being semi-retired. In the late 90s and early 2000s, Al and Enid traveled throughout the western U.S., spending the winters in Arizona. His interests over the years were hot rod cars, motorcycles, hunting (rifle & archery), fishing, ham radio, boating, water skiing, boat drags, snowmobiles, dune buggies, and flying. He took interest in anything that had an engine, and owned several airplanes.
Alvin is survived by sons, Mike, of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Gary, of Medford, Ore.; grandchildren, Malcolm Edwards, Alexandra Edwards, Madeline Edwards, Dawn Edwards and Crystal Teters; and great grandson, Tyler.
