Arlien Pomeroy Brogan, 93 of Medford, Oregon passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2015. She was born September 6, 1921 In Klamath Falls, Oregon to Edgar Noah Pomeroy and Edna Elizabeth Norris. Arlien grew up in Alturas, California and graduated from Modoc Union High School in 1939. She married Burle Griffin in 1939 and moved to Medford, Oregon. She and Burle had four children.
Arlien worked at the Big Y in the cosmetics department from 1957-1963, then for Teachers Credit Union (now Rogue Federal) until retirement. In the early 1950's she was a volunteer for the Civil Air Patrol as a foreign plane spotter.
She and Burle were active members of Roxy Ann Grange. They enjoyed square dancing. Burle passed away in 1957. In 1962 she married Jim Brogan, who also preceded her. She and Jim enjoyed attending the Medford Senior Center and playing cards with friends. Arlien was an avid reader and crossword puzzle whiz.
Survivors include sons, Kim Griffin of Sunriver, Ore., Gary (Greta Keaton) Griffin of Spokane, Wash., and Alan Griffin of Merlin, Ore.; a sister, Joan Nelson of Oceanside, Ore; five grandchildren, MIchelle, Mike, Wendy, Aaron, Andrew; five great-grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews. Arlien was preceded in death by her husbands, Burle Griffin and Jim Brogan; son, Mark Griffin; and stepson, Tom Brogan.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Memory Gardens Chapel, 1395 Arnold Lane, Medford, Ore., with refreshments to follow. She will be laid to rest in the Griffin Creek Cemetery.
