On February 2, 2011, with family by her side, Pauline Rolie went to be with the Lord. Pauline was born on May 14, 1931, in Inglewood, Calif., to Clarence Lee Hardy and Hattie Ruth Bray. At the age of three, she moved with her family to Jacksonville, Ore., where she attended Jacksonville schools.
While attending Jacksonville High School, she met the love of her life, Harlan Rolie. The two were married at Jacksonville Presbyterian Church on August 13, 1950, and shortly thereafter they welcomed the birth of their son, Tom, followed by two daughters, Sue and Linda.
Pauline worked at Jacksonville Elementary School as the office secretary until 1989, when she retired after 27 years of service. After her retirement, she and Harlan traveled the United States, Mexico, and Canada for nine years, enjoying their time as snowbirds. After their return to Medford, Pauline and Harlan enjoyed spending time with their large extended family.
Pauline enjoyed watching the Cooking Channel, baking pies, and crocheting. Each one of her children and grandchildren received a blanket crocheted with love by her. She also loved spending time with her family and always appreciated a "good old barbecued hamburger."
She is survived by her husband of 60 years; son, Tom (Linda); daughters Sue Sullivan (Mike) and Linda; grandchildren, Shannon, Mandy, Christina, Eric, Raelena and Isaac; as well as five great-grandchildren. She showed tremendous love for each and every one of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, letting them all know they were her favorite."
A family graveside service was held at Memory Gardens on Sunday, February 6, 2011. A celebration of her life will take place February 14, 2011 at 1:00 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville, located at 425 Middle Street, Jacksonville, OR. At Pauline's request, we ask that you wear bright colors to her memorial, in celebration of her life. She will be missed greatly by her family, as will the love she gave each one of us!
