Barbara Lanell Winans

July 28, 1933 — June 5, 2010

Barbara "Graves" Winans, 76, of Central Point, Ore., went home to be with our Lord and Savior June 5, 2010, at home.
She was born July 28, 1933, in Arley, Tex. Barbara was a majorette, yell leader, and graduate of Central Point High School, Class of 1951, "Go Pointers" and remained true to her school and school friends. In 1955, she married the man of her dreams, a New York Navyman, Wayne L. Winans, beginning their lives together in Reno, Nev., on October 3rd. The happy couple were blessed with four daughters, Jo Kolb, Kate Moore, Sue Barlow, Jayne Poindexter and more than 54 years of marriage. Together, they reared their children with a great amount of grace, mercy, and patience, loving every moment.
After seving many years as a Navy family, residing around the country, the Winans family made a final move and settled in Central Point, Ore., in 1973. Barbara's life as a Navy wife, working for Rogue River Packing House, chairing an annual golf tournament benefiting Southern Oregon Special Olympics, a Lady of the Moose lodge, a huge San Francisco 49ers fan, and a doting grandmother, enabled her to forge many great lifelong friendships and memories.
Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Juanita; brothers, Duane, Billie, and Clifford. She is survived by her husband; daughters; little brother, Pat Graves; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and a gazillion friends.
Barbara will forever be loved and remembered for her gift of hospitality, warm smiles, chocolate cake, and banana pudding.
