On April 28, 2023 Charles “Chuck” Connington died in Lawton, OK after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was 81 years old.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Joyce (Johnson) Connington; his daughter, Cindy (Connington) Bateman and her husband Sean Bateman; his grandchildren, Rachel (Bateman) Rogers and her husband Jacob Rogers, and Steven Bateman and his fiancée, Natalie Fleming. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris Jackson “Jack” and Evelyn (Ball) Connington and his sister, Nancy Connington.
Chuck was born on November 25, 1941, in South Gate, CA. He graduated from Earl Warren High School in Downey, CA in 1959 and attended Cerritos Junior College where he completed a drafting degree. Chuck went on to eventually start his own business, Superior Tank Company, Inc. with two other partners. Chuck retired from Superior Tank Co. in 1991 and went on to enjoy building furniture, restoring old cars and antique fans, camping and being with his family.
Chuck married Joyce in 1964 in Downey, CA. They both attended the same high school and lived on the same street in high school. They welcomed Cindy in 1970. After Cindy’s graduation from Cal Poly Pomona, they eventually moved to southern Oregon and lived there for 21 years before moving to Elgin, OK to be closer to their daughter Cindy and her family.
A graveside service for Chuck is scheduled for Monday, May 8, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with viewing at 10:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford, OR. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
