Constance Anne O’Doherty passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Suncrest Place Senior Living in Talent, Oregon. Anne, as she was known was a long-time resident of Prineville, Oregon. She was born on March 3, 1933 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Anne succumbed to the effects of Parkinson’s disease, which she battled for many years. She is survived by her husband, Robert G. O’Doherty, daughter, Roberta Varble of Medford, and sons Douglas O’Doherty of Prineville and John Ryan O’Doherty of Lawton, Oklahoma. Anne also has a brother, Donald Collins who resides in Bolivar, Tennessee, 4 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson.Anne grew up in Northern California, and had, as she liked to say, an idyllic childhood complete with total freedom to explore and roam all the high desert area near Mt. Shasta. She was an excellent horse woman and spent many hours riding. Anne met her husband while attending Oregon Institute of Technology. Robert’s work brought them to Prineville in 1956, where the two raised their family and began their careers. Buying, fixing up, and trading real estate was a pattern for most of their lives. Anne worked for the Ochoco National Forest as a budget analyst until 1986 when an opportunity took them to Sitka, Alaska, and then Alturas, California. They ultimately retired to Senior Estates in Woodburn, Oregon. In her younger years, Anne enjoyed the outdoor life, she was always active. She enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, hiking, cross country skiing, dancing and just plain having fun. She even ran a half marathon in her early 40's. She loved to sing and play musical instruments. In 1978, she survived a nasty car accident and wasn't able to enjoy most of the active lifestyle she had in her earlier years. It didn't stop her from travel, and Bob & Anne enjoyed the time traveling until health issues became a problem.Anne's wishes were to be cremated, and at the couple’s request there will be no funeral service. They wish all to remember the fond memories of Anne, give someone you love a hug and a kiss and don't make a fuss.
Condolence cards are welcome: Bob O’Doherty, 300 Suncrest Road, Apt. 125, Talent, OR 97540.
