Coy Dean McFarland, 78, of Medford, Ore. passed away January 30, 2013, at home. Coy was born January 7, 1935, in Lubbock, Texas to Clyde and Claudia McFarland. He moved to Grants Pass, Ore. June 6, 1946, and then to Medford in 1958 when he got married. He married Barbara Ann Fort, who survives, February 15, 1958, at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Ore
Coy was employed as a line assigner for Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Company for 35 years starting in Grants Pass, then later in Medford. He attended college at Southern Oregon College in 1954. Hobbies include football, hunting, fishing, camping, and knitting afghans for his children and grandchildren. He was a Red Cross blood donor, having donated 35 gallons of blood; president of the Crater Lake Council of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Coy is survived by son, Chester C. McFarland (Shelly), of Twin Falls, Idaho; daughters, Teresa A. Burkhart (Doug), of Central Point, Ore., Donna J. Ritzinger (Joseph), of Medford, and Karen M. Stiles (Jeff), of Cave Junction, Ore.; brother, Olan C. McFarland (Sharron), of Medford; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was in death preceded by his parents; twin brother, Foy Gene McFarland, who died at birth; and daughter, Diane McFarland; who died the day she was born in 1959.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. February 5, 2013, at Eastwood Baptist Church, 675 Keene Way Drive, Medford. Pastor Emeritus Jerry Gilmer of Eastwood Baptist will officiate. Internment will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, 1395 Arnold Lane, Medford.
