Edward Ralph Gadsby

Edward Ralph Gadsby age 46 went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2023. Ed was born on October 19, 1976 in Fairfax, Virginia. He was the son of Marla and Bill Gadsby and was raised by them in the Northern Virginia area. As a youngster he was known for his witty personality and his 100 Watt smile, which he displayed regularly.

After graduating from George Mason University he pursued his lifelong dream of moving to California. There he worked at several jobs and lived in several locations including Monterey, Santa Cruz and Carmel. In 2021 he moved to Oregon and last resided in Gold Hill—a small town compared to his other residences. He loved the beauty of the area and enjoyed hiking and other activities. In the past few years, he had also become very interested in and creative at gardening and cooking. Two outdoor activities he really enjoyed were skateboarding and snowboarding, which he did whenever he got the opportunity. One thing he particularly enjoyed shortly before his untimely passing was visiting a local skate park and filming and offering pointers to children just learning to skate.

Ed is survived by his father Bill, his sister Caryn Szameitat, brother-in-law Peter Szameitat and his three nieces. Ed was predeceased by his mother in January 2019.

With Ed’s passing we all lose a gentle and witty spirit, who had many hopes and dreams, but unfortunately not enough time to make them a reality. Ed will be missed by all who crossed his path and shared his friendship.
