Edward Seto passed away peacefully at home on September 7 2023 surrounded by loved ones. Ed turned 90 on June 27, 2023.
He was born in Fresno, CA the second child in a family of 7 children, born to Kichijiro Roy and Mary Isomi Seto. After graduating high school Ed joined the Army and served as a staff sergeant during the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1958. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cal State Fresno.
In 1962 Ed married Anna Mostoller. Ed, Anna and Sharon, the youngest of Anna’s 5 children, moved to Lancaster, California in 1963. Ed had a long career in the aerospace industry retiring from NASA Ames Research Center. After retiring, Ed and Anna moved to Medford, OR in 1990. After Anna’s passing Ed was blessed to find love again with Velva Cosler, they married in November 1997 on the island of Maui, Hawaii and enjoyed 18 wonderful years of marriage. They enjoyed traveling to Maui on a regular basis as well as traveling the country to spend time with family and friends.
Ed’s warm and joyful smile was contagious and welcoming to all. His kindness and love for life shined through in everything he did. He was an avid golfer and played on a regular basis up until a month before his passing. Softball was another passion of Ed’s and for several years he played in the Invitational Senior Olympic Softball Games in St George, Utah. Ed enjoyed reading, watching sports and tending to his lovely rose garden.
Ed is survived by daughter, Sharon Duckett (Jim), 7 stepchildren, their spouses, 23 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Anna, Velva, and stepdaughter Linda.
The viewing will be held on Friday, September 22 from 3 to 7 pm with a service on Saturday, September 23 at 11am at Memory Gardens, 1395 Arnold Lane Medford. Ed will be laid to rest at the Eagle Point National Cemetery on Monday, September 25 at 9:00 am.
Memorial contributions in Ed’s memory may be made to the Japanese American National Museum or the Wounded Warrior Project.
