Elmer E. Schlottmann, 95, of Medford, Ore., passed away Monday, December 26, 2011, at Horton Plaza.
Elmer was born November 19, 1916, in Elmonica, Ore., to Henry and Emma Schlottmann. He was one of four boys. He attended Aloha and Huber Elementary Schools, Beaverton High School, and Benson Polytechnic School. He was a track star in high school, participating in long jump and the 100 yard dash.
He lived and worked in the Portland and Beaverton, Ore., areas until he retired from auto painting and body repair work.
In June 1939, Elmer married Nova in Camas, Wash. They had four children. He and Nova moved to the Medford area in 1996, and to Horton Plaza in January 2007. Nova passed away soon after.
Elmer's hobbies were hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, square dancing, camping, gardening, and he loved watching sports. In the last five years living at Horton Plaza, he loved bingo, Wii bowling, scenic drives, and social hours.
Survivors include sons, Ron (Melanie) Schlottman, of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Dan (Jeanie) Schlottman, of Salem, Ore.; daughters, Nancy (Larry) Lee, of San Jose, Calif., and Joanie (Wayne) Tait, of Central Point, Ore.; brother, Albert Schlottmann, of Hillsboro, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Nova, Elmer was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond and William.
