Erma Frances Bohn

January 27, 1922 — April 16, 2018

After 96 well-lived years, Erma Bohn peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 16,2018 after a short illness.Erma was born January 27, 1922 in Cooperstown, North Dakota to George and BorghildKrueger. The family moved from North Dakota to California, then to Oregon in the 30’s. Eversince Erma was a child, it was her dream to be a teacher. She attended college in Susanvilleand Ashland, graduating from Southern Oregon College of Education (now SOU) in 1943 with afour-year Bachelor’s degree in teaching.It was while in college that Erma met her future husband, Delmar Bohn. Shortly after meeting,Del enlisted in the Army, serving overseas in World War II, and Erma moved to Westwood,California after graduation to teach. Love blossomed and grew as they correspondedthroughout the war, and on September 8, 1945 they were married at St. Peter’s LutheranChurch in Medford, Oregon.After Del’s discharge, they moved to Ashland where they made their home until Del’s death in1975. Erma taught first grade in the Ashland School District until her retirement in 1982. She isremembered and loved by many of her former students. She felt very strongly about acceptingeach child she had in her classroom and helping each one do his or her very best. Sheexpected the children to listen, to try, and to find success.Erma took great pride and pleasure in her grandchildren and great grandchildren, never tiring ofsharing how wonderful they were with anyone who would listen. She loved rooting for hergrandsons at their football games, and over the years attended all of her grandchildren’s manyschool and church programs.Erma was very committed to and active in her church, Grace Lutheran in Ashland. She trustedthat Jesus was always watching over her.She leaves behind two sons, Larry (Margaret) and Dean (Shelley), both of Ashland, twograndsons, two granddaughters, five great-grandchildren, one brother and one sister. Ermawas preceded in death by her husband, Del, son, Gary, three brothers, and two sisters.Erma had an amazing positive outlook on life, was an encourager, and never had a negativeword to say about anyone. Her favorite quote comes from the movie Bambi when Thumper said“If you can’t say somethin’ nice, don’t say nothin’ at all.” She was a wonderful mother,grandmother and friend and will be remembered and forever loved by those who knew her.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made toGrace Lutheran Church or to the American Diabetes Association.
