Florence Loucille Culbertson

June 22, 1918 — April 29, 2020

Florence L. Culbertson, age 101, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at her home at the Weatherly Inn, Medford Oregon. Florence was a life-long county resident and the first female pilot in Jackson County in the late 1930s having been trained by her husband, the late Thomas Culbertson, who was then superintendent of the Medford municipal airport. She was a secretary of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, active in local clubs in the valley, and an avid golfer and bridge player. She was a sports fan and an enthusiastic supporter of Duck football.

Florence was the amazing matriarch of the family, and she was a role model of determination, independence, strength and love that will forever be missed by so many.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband Thomas A. Culbertson. She is survived by a daughter, Karen Culbertson Rhinard, two grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Private family internment will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest beside Tom. Donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital, Portland, Oregon.
