Glenn Allen Govenor

October 8, 1950 — March 10, 2020

Glenn Allen Govenor came into the world on October 8, 1950, born to Vernon (Bob) Govenor and Dorothy Mather Govenor. He was lovingly known as Odie (a nickname given to him by his father) by most of his extended family. Glenn died March 10, 2020 at his home in Jacksonville, surrounded by his loved ones.Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, a twin sister Gloria, who died at birth, and one Granddaughter BreAnn Govenor.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Marsha, six children and their spouses, Tammi (David), Jason (Jericha), Becky (Billy), Jill (London), Shane (Athena) and Andrew (Tonya), along with 19 adoring Grandchildren, Brittany, Shani, Baylee, Keenan, Will, Autumn, Alexander, Annabella, Hannah, Milee, Owen, Christian, Max, Ashton, Zoey, Daniel, and Ivy, including two great grandchildren, Lilah and Shaw. He is also survived by 3 Sisters and their husbands, Ann Montero (Mike), Deb Anderson (Larry) and Tess Aldrich (Mark). There are also hundreds of aunts, uncles and cousins, too numerous to name.
Glenn was born at a Medford hospital, and spent his early days growing up in Prospect on what would come to be known later as Mather Road, surrounded by aunts and uncles and cousins, until the age of 12 when the family moved to Medford.
Glenn met his future wife, Marsha, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses that they attended together. They also attended High School together, and were married 5 months after they graduated high school on November 30, 1968.
Glenn worked for Jackson County Department of Public Works in the tire shop for 32 years.
After visiting his daughters in Hawaii, Glenn dreamed of moving there, and after retirement, that dream was fulfilled. After a short time living there he realized his roots were in Oregon and returned home.
Glenn was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses at the age of 16 and he devoted several years of his life as a full time minister sharing his faith in the Bible’s promises. (Revelation 21: 3,4)
He also deeply loved his family, and truly cherished being a grandfather. He was known for his enjoyment of baking, gathering wildflowers, but mostly lady slippers, and hand delivering them to his loved ones. He also really enjoyed camping, having bonfires, doing puzzles, playing card games like cribbage and woodworking in his shop. Other beloved activities included riding his John Deere and mowing his large yard. His downtime also included watching the Andy Griffith show, or a good John Wayne movie. He also enjoyed hunting, sharing good times, good drinks, laughs and jokes with all his great friends. Glenn may have not been a wealthy man, but he enriched the lives of all those he came in contact with.
