Goldie Inez Hubbard

September 17, 1916 — April 22, 2020

Goldie was born on September 17, 1916 in Westlake, Idaho to Joseph C. Wilson (40) and Estella M. Wilson (38) who came from Missouri in a covered wagon. Goldie had 2 brothers, Lemuel (Doc), Leslie (Bud) and 4 sisters Etta, Ermie, Nellie and Twyla. Her family moved toWashougal/Camas, Washington area where Goldie contracted and survivied Polio at the age of 11. After several moves the family settled in Ashland, Oregon where she met Delmar Arthur Hubbard. Goldie and Del were neighbors in Ashland. Del’s Grandfather said, “Sonny, that is the girl for you!” Del and Goldie were married in Ashland, OR on March 15th 1934 and celebrated 70 years of marriage.
Goldie and Del moved to Vallejo, California where Del worked at Mare Island Navel Shipyard. Four children were born to Goldie in Vallejo: Evelyn Sherman, Carol Hubbard, Cindy Hess and Joe (Julie) Hubbard. Goldie’s heart was always in Medford, OR where most of her siblings lived, so she moved her family back to southern Oregon in 1957. Family was the most important part of Goldie’s life and many outings were shared with her sisters, brothers nad their families. McKee Bridge at Applegate, OR was one of the favorite picnic spots. Goldie and Del lived in Medford until 1978, then they built their forever home on the hill in Jacksonville, OR
She has 7 Grandchildren: Gina (Dan) Reece, Janell (Jeff) Carpenter, Julie (Jason) Davies, Kaley Olson, Brad (Alia) Hubbard, Scott Hubbard and Sarah Hubbard. She has 19 Great Grandchildren: Cory, Kyle, Cody Reece; Trae, Jett, Ty, Paije Carpenter; Natalie Spivey, Emilee, Kacey Davis; Megan, Maddy, Mallory, Zeke Olson, Hazel, Cora Olson-Matlock; Henley, and Jackson Hubbard.
Goldie was a homemaker most of her life. “Goldie’s kitchen” was always filled with good food and lots of love. She loved to garden, growing beautiful flowers and robust vegetables. Her grandchildren were always welcome after school or when they were sick. She met them with hot chocolate and loving hugs. Family was always the most important thing in her life, and we were so blessed to be the recipients of that love. By reaching the age of 103 Goldie was the last of her generation. She outlived all of her siblings along with many nieces and nephews.
Goldie’s legacy of love and care for others was shown in the amazing support and love that all her cousins, nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews gave back during her time of need.
