Gordon Otto Maurer, 73 of Medford, Ore., passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011, with loved ones by his side.
Gordon was born to the late Clarence and Enid Maurer, October 5, 1937, in Mitchell, S.D. The Maurer family moved to Southern Oregon in 1952. Gordon proudly served in the United States Army prior to being married to his wife, Margaret (Calvary) Maurer, October 26, 1957. He worked in the Southern Oregon saw-mill industry for nearly 25 years, where he took pride in his work and his friendships.
Gordon's passions included hunting, fishing, camping, and watching the ballgame. He will be remembered for his warm heart, love of children, sense of humor, strength, and his dedication to family and friends.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Margaret Maurer; sister, Shirlee Oden; brother, Bill Maurer; children, Randy Maurer (Paola), Cheryl Beugli (Rich), and Gordon Maurer Jr.; grandchildren, Ryan Beugli, Megan Beugli, Sarah Maurer, Jacob Maurer, and Gabriel Maurer; and great-grandchildren, Alivia Chavez and Maggie Hammond. He was also a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at the Memory Gardens Memorial Park & Mortuary of Medford, Oregon.
