Harry Samuel Mackay Jr, age 80 years, passed Friday, September 20, 2019 at his home. He was born May 26, 1939 in Ashland, Oregon to parents Harry and Mabel (Rametes). He joined the Marines in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1964. Harry met the love of his life, Glenda Brannan, on Christmas Eve 1958. They were married a month later just before he was sent off to Japan for 15 months. After his return he worked for the Talent Irrigation District and several local sawmills. He and Glenda retired in 1990 and traveled exclusively in their RV throughout the great western states for 17 years. They enjoyed visiting many National parks and Monuments and kayaking in in every river and lake they came across. They also enjoyed many trips to Hawaii. He was a member of the Ashland Elks for 49 years.
Harry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Glenda, daughter Marjorie (Don), son Ronald (Taffy), two grandsons; Victor(Christin) and Riley, granddaughter Onyx, three great grandchildren and several step grandchildren, two brothers Bill Mackay (Susie) and Mike Mackay, two sister's Sally Villers and Rita (Eugene) Couch and sister-in-law Barbara Smead. He was preceded by his parents and sisters Doris, Betty and Jean and brother Bob.
Harry will be laid to rest in Eagle Point National Veterans Cemetery, Eagle Point, Oregon during a private family ceremony.
