Herbert John Daniken

March 26, 1923 — April 15, 2013

Herbert John Daniken, 90, of Medford, Ore., went home to be with our Lord and Savior during a hail storm on April 15, 2013. He was surrounded by his family as he made his journey into eternity.

Herbert was born March 26, 1923 in Pocahontas, Ill., to John and Emma Daniken, and grew up on the family farm. During his service in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952, he was stationed in Munich, Germany. After an honorable discharge from the Army, Herbert moved from Illinois to Medford, where he met and married the love of his life Marian Marie Aarseth. They were married on May 28, 1955. Together they raised their family of four children at the home Herbert built on Barnett Road. Herbert worked for Elk Lumber Company hauling logs which was later bought by Boise Cascade Inc., where he tended the hog until his retirement in 1986.

Herbert was a man of God, lived his life by example, and was actively involved in the church throughout his lifetime. He was instrumental in the construction of Central Point Church of Christ (Hope Christian Church), serving as both a Sunday school teacher and a Deacon. Herbert hand-built much of the office furniture for the church, including a playground structure, kitchen centers, desks, chairs, and book shelves for Noah's Ark Preschool and Daycare. He faithfully attended Table Rock Fellowship during the last 14 years, helping anywhere he was needed.

Herbert loved spending time with his family and teaching them about the Lord, and enjoyed the privilege of baptizing four of his grandchildren. He also loved woodworking, gardening, and helping others. He had a special gift of always finding the best in people. Herbert was an INSPIRATION to his entire family and all who knew him.

Herbert joins his parents and one brother, Robert Daniken, in his heavenly home. He is survived by two brothers, Gilbert (Helen) and Maurice (Betty) Daniken; his devoted wife, Marian Daniken; sons, Jim (Christi), Jerry (Christina), and Joel (Jill) Daniken; daughter, Eileen (Mark) Georgianna. He leaves a proud legacy of 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Dad you will be missed dearly until we can be together

again so this is not goodbye but see you later!!

We LOVE you.

A celebration of Herbert's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Table Rock Fellowship, 3610 N. Pacific Hwy., Medford. Pastor Tom Sabens will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Table Rock Fellowship.
