James V. Stephenson, 88, of Medford, Ore., passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010. He was born March 18, 1922 in Merril, Ore., to parents Augusta (Beldon) Stephenson and Charles Stephenson.
Mr. Stephenson married Berniece Lucille Daugherty on Sept. 26, 1943, while serving in the U.S. Navy. He served from 1942 1945 as a machinist mate on board a P.T. boat in the Philippines and New Guinea. He later served with the Sea Bees in the South Pacific.
Upon discharge, Mr. Stephenson returned to Oregon and was employed by Medford Corp. for more than 38 years. He was a life long member of the First Christian Church, serving as a deacon. He was an avid reader and enjoyed photography, music and home craft.
Survivors include two sons, Tom (Carol Ann) Stephenson, of San Jose, Calif. and Mike (Linda) Stephenson, of Tillamook, Ore.; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife, Berniece L. Stephenson, in 2005.
The funeral service for James Vernon Stephenson will be on Friday at 11:00 a.m., at Memory Gardens Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be in the Eagle Point National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project,
