Joan Elizabeth Shults

Joan Elizabeth (Callaghan) Shults, age 70, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014 with her family at her side. Joan was born September 13, 1944 in Miles City, Mont. to Shy & Jessie (Thomason) Callaghan. She graduated from Eagle Point High School in 1962. The following year she was crowned Miss Rogue Valley. In 1964 she was runner up in the Miss Oregon pageant.

She then went on to modeling school in San Francisco, Calif. She married the love of her life, Jerry Shults. They soon moved to Lakeview, Ore. where they had two daughters, K.C. and Lisa. In 1983 they moved to Eagle Point, Ore. where they remained for many years. Joan was a legal secretary for several years here. She enjoyed camping, rafting, hunting for rocks, gardening, playing bunco, and most of all dancing. She loved spending time and playing games with her family.

She especially loved her grandkids, Josh & Alex Pecktol and Jessie Pettegrew-Sam. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Jerry. She is survived by two daughters; K.C. (Tim) Sam and Lisa Pecktol (Bob Dusenberry); grandchildren, Josh, Alex, Jessie, and great-grandson A.C.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2014 at Memory Gardens. She will be laid to rest beside Jerry in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
