John Jay Cherry

November 28, 1927 — October 3, 2012

John Jay Cherry, a resident of Medford since 1987, passed away on October 3, 2012, at the age of 84. He was born November 28, 1927, in Pocatello, Idaho, to John James Cherry and Mary Eleanor Worley.
John and his first wife, Inez Jane Adkins, had a large family, and enjoyed 45 wonderful years together until Jane passed away in 1992. John married Betty Lou Lemmon Allen, of Medford, in 2000, and they were happily married until her death on June 18, 2012.
John was an airline pilot and flew for United Airlines for over 40 years. He was a life-long, faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities in the church.
John is survived by his brother, Boyd (Darlene) Cherry; step-sister, Carol (Larry) DeVisser; step-brother, Bud Harris; children, Steve (Connie) Cherry, Donna (Brent) Ward, Kathy (Kirk) Waggener, Becky Cherry, Jan (Jake) McCready, and Merrie (Bill) Boland; and two step-children, Eric Allen, and Patricia Allen. He was preceded in death by daughter, Wendy Susan; and great-grandson, Cameron Dayton. John is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by his loving family and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 8, 2012, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2900 Juanipero Dr., Medford, Oregon.
