Julia Star Clary

Julia “Star” Clary 100, of Eagle Point, Oregon passed away on March 2, 2021.
The Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday March 26, 2021 at Memory Gardens Mortuary and Memorial Park. Pastor Chad McComas will be officiating.
Born Julia Starr Holzhauser to Herman Rudolph Holzhauser and Miss Ivy (Iva) Nine on October 25, 1920 in Macdoel, California. Mrs. Clary, a longtime resident of Sacramento, California moved to the Rogue Valley in August, 2016 to be closer to her family.
Aunt Star as she was known to her family, grew up in Southern Oregon. Aunt Star started school in a one room schoolhouse in the Butte Valley area located in Northern California. At this time in her young life, she was living with another family just so the other children in that area did not lose their school house. She went to school at Lincoln Elementary in Ashland, Oregon and was a graduate of Ashland Senior High. Upon completion of high school, Aunt Star attended Pacific Union College in Angwin, California which is located in Napa County.
She had moved to Southern California some time later where she worked for Paradise Valley Sanitarium and had met and worked with Henry Clary. Unbeknownst to them at the time, he was to be her future husband. Years later after moving up to Fresno, California, Aunt Star had reconnected with Mr. Clary and fell in love. They married November 4, 1961 in Fresno California surrounded by family and friends.
Aunt Star was dedicated in every aspect of her life. She was a member and past president of the Medical Assistants Association Fresno, California. She was a longtime volunteer for the Dorcus Society and the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Carmichael, California, helping out in the thrift store and with bookkeeping.
She enjoyed gardening, home canning, and spending time with her family. Much of this time was spent on their ranch in Penryn, California. Not having any children of her own, her nieces and nephews served as surrogate children and grandchildren.  Uncle Hank and Aunt Star would take their nieces and nephews for a week at a time, several times a year. During this time, they would spend countless hours at the pool watching them swim or would take them on a day trip.
Following the passing of Uncle Hank, Aunt Star spent most of the holidays, Christmas in particular, with Ron, Terri and the girls. A few of these holidays were spent taking short vacation trips to Monterey or San Diego, California where she wanted to visit the former Paradise Valley Sanitarium. This trip served two purposes, the first was to see some of Uncle Hanks personal lab items on display and the second was to share her experiences with her family.
Mrs. Julia Clary was preceded in death by her father, Herman Holzhauser; mother, Miss Iva Nine; both of her brothers, Lloyd Holzhauser and Richard R. Holzhauser; husband of 40 years, Henry Harper Clary; nephew, Richard John Holzhauser; Sister in law, Agnes (Gist-Holzhauser) Damon; Cousins Faye Snyder, Romie Holzhauser, and Burt Holzhauser; and stepson, James Clary.
She is survived by nephew, Ronald Lee Holzhauser of Medford, OR; Nieces, Florence Echols of Cottonwood, CA; Melva Holzhauser of Crescent City, CA; niece-in-laws Linda Holzhauser of Eagle Point, OR; Terri L Holzhauser of Medford, OR; great-nephews  Steven Holzhauser of Medford, OR; John Holzhauser of Eagle Point, OR; David Echols, Jr. of Crescent City, CA; and Michael Echols of Redding, CA; great-nieces, Kierra Huggins, Marcella Six, and Jacklyn Holzhauser, all of Medford, OR; Mary-Elaine Holzhauser of Arlington, TX; and Angie DuBray and Kathleen Escobar, both of Redding CA; Jerry Frazier of Arcata, CA; as well as  numerous great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
Aunt Star was very well loved by her family and will be sorely missed.
