On March 21, 2014, June Carol Smith (Carol) passed away at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 67 years old. Carol was born June 2, 1946 to Chester and Etta Brown of Medford, Ore. She was the youngest of nine children.
After graduating from Medford Senior High, Carol worked for the Jackson County Surveyor's office and then the District Court. In April of 1983 she began her career at Rogue Regional Medical Center in the office of Continuing Medical Education. She continued there for the next 30 years organizing and preparing large medical conferences throughout Southern Oregon and Northern California. She found her life to be busy and fulfilled.
In 1965 Carol was married to Bryan Nelson of Medford and they raised a family together. She is survived by her son, Bryan "Tony" Anthony Nelson (Jeannie) of Medford, Ore.; daughter, Andrea June Yaeger of Medford, Ore.; and granddaughter, Ashlee Brianne Yaeger of Lake Havasu, Ariz.
In 1995, Carol married John "Tim" Timothy Smith which also brought daughter, Lilly Smith, into her life. Carol enjoyed her family and friends while camping, canoeing, fishing, dancing, taking trips to the coast, and traveling around the state of Oregon. She loved to take long rides in the mountains and along the coast. She is survived by her husband, Tim and daughter, Lilly Smith.
Carol was known to her family and friends for her creativity and artistic ability. She had a way of adding those special touches to everything she did through home decorating, sewing, pottery, and paintings. She was most content when painting while listening to her favorite music.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Etta and Chester Brown and her brother, Paul Edward Brown of Medford, Ore. She is survived by sisters, Deana Friesen, Joan Roby, Ellen Johnson, and Bessie Bishop all of Medford, Ore.; and brothers, Audrey "Audi" Brown of Rocky Point, Ore., Robert "Bob" Brown of Vancouver, Wash., and Bill Brown of Gig Harbor, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews who she showed much love to.
Carol's memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Memory Gardens 1395 Arnold Lane, in Medford, Ore.
