Kathleen Hudson Smith, age 91, of Medford, Oregon, went home to the Lord on February 10, 2020. She passed away peacefully and was attended by loving family. Kathleen was born May 3,1928 in Monterey Park, CA to Thomas and Ida Hudson. In 1949, Kathleen graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Business Education. That same year, she married Glenn Pearman Smith. Their 68-year union was marked by a quietly impressive dedication to each other. In their early years of marriage, Kathleen taught business classes at Alhambra High School until Glenn completed graduate school. Then, the two moved to the Bay Area when Glenn accepted a position at San Francisco State University. Kathleen was deeply devoted to family and raised four children with Glenn in San Mateo, CA, while also caring for some of Glenn’s relatives. Kathleen was an immensely supportive spouse during Glenn’s distinguished career and service to the community. She also worked outside the home for many years as a volunteer at Mills Memorial Hospital and in management positions for local businesses. In 1999, Kathleen and Glenn moved to the Rogue Valley Manor and enjoyed an active retirement. They were also members of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Kathleen is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Pamela Smith of Medford; and daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Bryan Gahagan, of Jacksonville, FL. Her husband, Glenn, son Ransom and daughter Millicent preceded her in death. Kathleen is also survived by ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who were all very precious to her. A memorial for family and close friends will take place at Memory Gardens at a time that will be announced. In lieu of flowers,
donations to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation at www. komen.org are appreciated.
