Leland Ivor "Lee" Harter

May 17, 1918 — February 27, 2014

Leland Ivor Harter, 95 years old, was born May 17, 1918 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Earl P and Lela Blanche (Emery) Harter. He grew up in the Dust Bowl days in Texas. Leland went to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 27, 2014.

He served in the Army Air Force in World War II as a Squadron Commander in the South Pacific, Flying a B-52. Leland married Frances Walker May 1, 1942, they were married for 72 years. He graduated from Oregon State University and moved to Jacksonville in 1950, to teach wood shop at the Jacksonville High School until 1959. He then taught at McLoughlin until 1977.

Leland and Frances moved to Portland to serve in the Child Evangelism Fellowship. They moved back to Jacksonville in 1985. Leland is survived by wife, Faye, son, David and grandson Eric, they still live in the area.; brother, Dale Harter and sister, Mary Lou Reynolds both of Texas.

There will be a Graveside service 1:00 pm, Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, 1395 Arnold Lane, Medford, OR 541-773-7338. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Ruch Community Bible Church, 190 Upper Applegate Road, Ruch, Ore. Pastor Ron McKay will officiate. Memorial contributions can be made in Leland's name to, Child Evangelism Fellowship, 334 Effie Street, Medford, Ore. 97504.
