Louis Joe Cavagnaro

Lou Cavagnaro, age 88, of Shady Cove, Oregon, passed away Friday, September 14, 2012 at Hearthstone Nursing Center.
He was born and raised in Concord, California to Frank and Palmyra (Mangini) Cavagnaro.
He served in the US Army Air Corps in the Philippines. Upon his discharge he went to work for John P. Serpa Buick-Pontiac where he met his first wife Dorothy (Rose). They were married on April 29, 1951 at St. Catherine's Church in Martinez, California. They had one daughter, Linette. He owned Lou & Lee's Flying A service station in the 1950's. He worked various positions for Contra Costa County. Lou retired in 1978 and moved with Dorothy to Shady Cove, Oregon where he built his dream home, a log house. When he moved to Shady Covehe became involved in many community activities. In 1999 his first wife, Dorothy passed away.
He married Barbara Harvey in June of 2003 and inherited a second family. Lou and Barb enjoyed traveling, gardening and crafts.
He was a member of the VFW, Good Sam Club and the Upper Rogue Community Center.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of Shady Cove, sister Amalia (Robert) Troyer, daughter Linette (Robert) Stevens, Stepdaughters Linda Day and Annie (John) Dinwiddie, stepson Larry Litehiser, five step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Lou will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, September 22 at Memory Gardens Chapel, 1395 Arnold Lane, Medford, Or.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Dogs for the Deaf, 10175 Wheeler Rd., Central Point, Or. 97502, or the Upper Rogue Community Center, 22465 Hwy 62, Shady Cove, Or. 97539.
