Louis William Haussler, age 81 years, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford. He was born December 22, 1936 in Cambridge, NE. to parents William Carl Haussler and Opal Lentz. He was raised the family farm in Nebraska that was homesteaded by his great-great grandfather in 1889. His education began in a one room schoolhouse later graduating from Holbrook High School in 1954. In 1955 he joined the U.S. Navy. While in the service he was a Class "A" Metalsmith. He spent the majority of his Navy years on sea duty. After serving four years he was honorably discharged in February 1959 and relocated to Medford.
In June of 1959 he was united in marriage to Shirley J. Lamb, raising a daughter and a son. He began his working years as a steel fabricator/welder for Medford Steel Corp. then a millwright for Boise Cascade Corp. and later for CWI. During that time he also proudly completed the construction of two homes for his family.
In 1970 he received his private and commercial pilots licenses and enjoyed flying across the country with his family. His hobbies included hunting and ocean fishing. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed his time spent there. He found great pleasure in carving and making black powder rifles.
Louis is survived by his wife Shirley, son Jerry, grandson Joshua, granddaughter Kaylene Skiles-Ward, great granddaughter Rayleigh Ward, brother-in-law Wilbur Hinkle and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Sandra Skiles, grandson Cory Skiles, two sisters; Jeannie Vojta and Janice Brackenburg, sister-in-law Marie Hinkle and other family members.
He was laid to rest in Memory Gardens Memorial Park in a private family ceremony. Memory Gardens Memorial Park & Mortuary in care of arrangements.
