Lula Elaine Moffet

Lula Elaine Moffet, 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Jacksonville Home Care, ending a beautiful life.
Lula was born October 15, 1913 in Lillian, Nebraska to Robert and Jessie (Raymond) Metzger. The family moved to Joseph, Oregon and from there to Jacksonville in 1926, where Lula graduated from high school. She attended Souther Oregon College of Education (now Southern Oregon University) and San Francisco State College. She taught school for many years in the Oakland, CA schools.
On July 13, 1940 Lula married Glenn V. Moffet. They were the ideal couple for over 68 years, until Glenn's death in 2009, having been separated only during the duration of WWII, when Glenn was serving in the Army Air Corp and Lula was a "Rosie the Riveter". As a couple, they found intererst in everything. They travelled to Europe, Tahiti and many, many times to their beloved Hawaii.
After retirement, Lula took up drawing and painting, creating many beautiful pictures. Her work was displayed in various locations in the Bay Area. She also continued here life-long enjoyment of dance. Lula took many different dance classes and taught many as well. She was still taking classes and sometimes teaching other seniors in the ins and outs of dancing until her 93rd year.
Lula and Glenn never had children of their own but they were about the most wonderful aunt and uncle imaginable to three generations of nieces and nephews, opening their home and their hears to all.
Lula and Glenn lived for many years in El Cerrito, CA in the home that they built themselves after WWII. They returned to Southern Oregon in 2006.
Lula was preceded in death by her parents and husband, as well as her sisters; Roberta, Audrey, Madeline and Joyce and her brother Fred. She is survived by her brother, H. Bruce Metzger, of Medford, Ore.; her in-laws and friends June Metzger of Medford; Hazel Scharfer or Corvallis and Vern Goodrich of Talent; 13 nieces and nephews and many, many great-and great-great nieces and nephews.
A graveside services will be held for Lula on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 1:00pm at Memory Gardens Memorial Park
