Marge Likely passed away April 28, 2012. She was born Marge Blandel in Utica, Michigan in 1927. As a young woman she married Norlyn Schoof who preceded her in death. After Norm's passing, Newt Likely met Marge at the Utica post office where she was employed. In 1973, Marge moved to Jacksonville, Oregon with Newt on the condition that her mother would agree to move as well. It was here that they built their home and his shop as well as a home for her mother. Marge was a dedicated daughter to her mother Anna Konar throughout her life. Newt became very dedicated to her as well.
For many years, Marge worked for Jacksonville Drug where she managed the gift department, purchasing beautiful gifts for the store and her home.
Marge loved nature. She would nurture her plants and feed the resident deer, although the deer would often feed on her plants. She enjoyed spending time taking pictures of "lop ear" and her fawns or capturing a perfect shot of a snow capped Mount Pitt.
She is survived by Newt's daughters, Kay and Judy Likely, her cousin Janet (Jan) and husband John (Jack) Stahl, Newt's great nephew Keith and wife Keltie Nelson as well as several cousins in Michigan. Her husband, Newt, preceded her in death.
Jan was more like a younger sister to Marge, their relationship and bond lasted decades.
A memorial will be held at her home May 12, 2012 at 1:00.
