Maria Leonide Cole, 90, left this earth for Heaven on August 26, 2013, at Providence Medford Medical Center, having died of an aneurysm. She was born on August 5, 1923 in Quebec, Canada to Joseph and Lillian Lagana (Tremblay). She was married to George Cole in Toronto, Canada on February 12, 1944. George died in Los Angeles, California on February 28, 1987.
Maria enjoyed life to the fullest, even having attended a party the day before her death and playing cards with her buddies at Northridge Assisted Living. She always had the attitude to no let anything get you down, no matter how sad. She was a great example as to how to live your life to the fullest.
Maria left Canada to move to Los Angeles, California in 1952. She worked as a hairdresser for 20 years and then as a LVN at Sherman Oaks Hospital for another 20 years. She moved to Medford, Oregon in 2000, to be near her family.
Survivors include her twin sister, Gloria DeCarlo of Medford; nieces, Yvonne DeCarlo of Jacksonville & Louise DeCarlo of Vermont; nephews, Roger DeCarlo of Portland, Larry DeCarlo of Canada, Danny DeCarlo of Medford and Tim Buckley of New York; daughters-in-law, Carinne Cole & Sandi Reid of Los Angeles and grandchildren, Ariana, Angela, Sara and Shannon; Her cat "Ruby" and her very dear, loyal friend Karen Melton of Medford. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three sons, Joseph Cole, Wayne Cole and Robert Cole.
A memorial service will be held at Northridge Assisted Living, 3737 S. Pacific Highway, Medford at 2:00p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2013. Music and food to follow will celebrate her life.
