Melvin Glen Frick, 87, passed away peacefully July 8, 2017 at Ashley Manor in Medford, Oregon with his wife of 67 years by his side.

Melvin was born December 24, 1929 in French Camp, California to Clarence and Elizabeth Frick. His family relocated to the Rogue Valley when he was six months old.

After graduating from Medford High School in 1948, he married Rebecca Jean Vinzant and together they had three children.

Melvin served three years in the Oregon National Guard. He also worked for Jackson County Roads Department before going to work for Elk Lumber Company/Boise Cascade. He retired from Boise after 39 years.

Melvin was active in the International Order of Odd Fellows, the Masonic Lodge, and was long-time member of Community Bible Church in Central Point.

Melvin was a family man and an outdoor person. He enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, and horses. His children and wife were involved with him in many of these activities. After retirement, Melvin and his wife did much traveling in their RV.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Rebecca Jean; three children: Nancy Higinbotham (Tim) of Central Point, Larry Frick (Tina) of Lakeview, and Debra Lull (Marty) of Whidbey Island, Wash..; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. July 20, 2017, at Memory Gardens. A viewing will be available Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m,. and Thursday morning before the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital or the Saint Jude Children's Hospital.

The family wants to thank the staff at Ashley Manor Care Facility on Arrowhead Drive in Medford for their loving care and support over the last year of Melvin's life.
