Niles Arthur Thomas, 91 of Jacksonville, OR passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Pioneer Village Assisted Living. He was born to Sydney Arthur and Laura Whitehead Thomas on December 12, 1918 in Lewiston, NE.
Niles married Irene Violet Watlz on November 13, 1937 in Butte, MT. He worked at a mill wright in the timber industry in Montana, Washington and Oregon. Moving to Oregon in 1949 to raise their family. Niles enjoyed antique cars especially the 1928 Dodge Brothers Roadster. He belonged to the Rogue Valley Old Timers Car Club.
Niles is survived by his wife, Irene of Jacksonville, OR; sister, Vera (Kim) Mae Walsh, of Seattle, WA; sons, Arthur Lee Thomas and Darrell Wayne Thomas of Eugene, OR; Robert (Jody) Dale Thomas of Atlanta, GA; Terry (Susan) Allen Thomas of Medford, OR; daughter, Linda (Jon) Gayle Dahlberg of Kalispell, MT; Eight Grandchildern and 13 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Wilma Smith and Lois Fettig and granddaughters, Brianna Lee Thomas and Debbie Doyle.
A memorial service will be held 2:00pm, Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Memory Gardens Mortuary Chapel 1395 Arnold Lane, Medford, OR. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park. Memorial donations should be sent to Access Inc. P.O. Box 4666 Medford, OR 97501
