Robert Lewis (Louis) Pappan was born on July 30, 1946 and passed away peacefully in his wife’s presence on May 18, 2020, at his home in Medford, Oregon. Born in Dallas, Texas, his family settled in Orange County, California, where they remained throughout Bob’s school and college years.
Bob is survived by his wife, Arlene Pappan, of 33 years, his three sons Grant A. Pappan, Ryan M. Kemp-Pappan (and his wife, Meredith), Kevin S. Pappan, his step-daughter Jennifer (Reher) Shelton (and her husband, Brian), grandchildren Justin T. Shelton, Kayla N. Shelton, Henry G. Kemp-Pappan, Lily G. Kemp-Pappan, his sister Sharon Pappan, and many nieces and nephews located in California and Oklahoma.
Bob and Arlene lived in West Hills, CA with their children, moved to Lake Conroe, Texas for 9 years, and later moved to Medford, Oregon in 2015 where Arlene’s daughter and family live.
Bob spent his career years in the Aerospace industry including Rockwell International, Rocketdyne, and he retired from Boeing. His career as a Facilities Engineer included design and construction management of various projects.
Bob loved his Lord Jesus and was a member of First Baptist Church in Medford. Bob served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He was a history buff, football fan, had a great recall of facts, and had a lively sense of humor. He loved people best by giving them his time. Bob’s love of his family was often expressed by hosting numerous BBQs for his family and friends, throughout the years. He is known for simultaneously manning 4-5 different types of BBQ devices at a time, where he cooked all kinds of delicious meats. He earned his nickname ABB (All Beef Bob) as he cultivated his craft at ABB’s BBQ. Family members have since attempted to duplicate his “secret sauce” and style, and whether they have achieved this status or not, he has successfully passed down the love of BBQ as a means to bring family and friends together.
Bob will be missed greatly. He was a sweet soul, a loyal and loving husband, a dedicated father (Pop), a special grandfather (Poppy), a wonderful brother and uncle, and a true friend to many.
