Shirley Margaret Clason Crammer was born the eighth in a family of nine children to Lewis "Doc" Clason and Nellie V. Smith Clason on December 12, 1913 on their NW Kansas homestead. She attended the one room "Dry Ridge" primary school and graduated from Long Island, Kansas High School in 1931.
In May of 1931, she eloped with Louis Stanley Crammer and they were married by the Decatur County Court Magistrate. The family lived in Phillips Co. Kansas and Craig, Colorado before moving to the Rogue Valley area in 1940. Shirley was a homemaker, raising her 5 children and participating in all the usual farm work. She liked to cut wood and help with haying and all manner of chores. In 1955, the family moved to Butte Falls, where Louis was employed as a timber faller.
Shirley and Louis were active in their churches in Ruch, The Community Bible Church in Central Point, The Community Bible Church in Butte Falls and she was a active member of Grace Church in Central Point at the time of her passing. She helped in youth ministries, women's missionary groups and the hospitality committee. She was committed to daily Bible reading and prayer for family, friends and the world through out her life. Shirley's life has bee an anchor to her family and an example of "unconditional love" to anyone who knew her.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Louis, her parents and eight sibling; Ruth, infant son (unnamed), June, Adolphus, Catherine, Lewis, Horace and Iris.
She is survived by her sons, K. Douglas (Grace) Crammer of Phoenix, AZ; Phillip Louis (Charlotte) Crammer of Kalmath, CA; and daughters, Nelda B. Crammer Edwards (Delbert Gene), Bobbie L. Crammer both of Central Point, Ore; and Susan M. Crammer (John) Wood of Winston, Oregon: 14 grandchildren, Mark Douglas Crammer of Minneapolis, MN; Janet L (Vernon) Vogel of Rockville, MD; Stanley Craig Edwards of Johnson City, NY; David Warner (Helen) Edwards of Apache, Junction, AZ; Suzanne Matthews, Jeremy Crammer Himber of Missoula, MT; Rebecca L. Crammer of Phoenix, OR; Gordon Woodruff of New Orleans, LA; Melissa (John) Laver of Klamath Falls, OR; Barbara (Mike) Murrey and Paul Woodruff of Redding, CA; Angela Woodruff of Klamath, CA; Sara M. Wood (Jeff) Lounsbury of Cedar Creek, TX; Jenni R. Wood (Ken) Hallac of Seattle, WA; 35 Great Grandchildren and 10 Great-Great Grandchildren and 16 nieces and nephews (4 deceased) across the nation.
Mom will be missed by all. We also celebrate her joining with Jesus and other loved ones in heaven.
As Shirley wished, there will be a gravedside service for family and close friends on Monday, August 1, 2011 at 11:00am at Memory Gardens Memorial Park and a memorial gathering for all who would like to share it in September to be announced. In lieu of flowers, we would liketo suggest that memorial contributions be sent to Grace Church, 100 Oak Stree, Central Point, OR 97502. These will be divided among Shirley's favorite missions.
