Stanley Ellis Knowles, 93, of Jacksonville, Oregon passed away Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Rogue Valley Medical Center from complications of pneumonia and congestive heart failure. He was born October 2, 1917 to David Ellis and Mamie Eveline (Kramer) Knowles in International Falls, Minnesota.
Stanley was raised by his father in Ingraham, Illinois from the age of two when his Mother died in the influenza pandemic of 1918 after the birth of his brother, Robert. His teen years were spent in Waukon, Iowa and he graduated from Iowa State University.
Stanley married Norma Herman on September 9, 1939 in Waukon, Iowa. They had two sons, Dennis and Gary. They lived in Chillicothe, Ohio for over 60 years, working for Mead Paper in the research division. Stanley enjoyed square dancing, long road trips and camping with friends.
Stanley was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norma in 1986.
