Violet Rose Jones

November 26, 1932 — December 21, 2019

Loving mother, Violet Jones, passed away on December 21, 2019 in Eagle Point, Oregon. Violet was born to John and Laura Holloway in Memphis, Nebraska. She was the youngest of 4 children. The family moved to Missouri for a time and then to Ithaca, Nebraska, where Violet grew up. Violet held a variety of jobs. She worked as a telephone operator in Wahoo, Nebraska; then attended Comptometer School in Lincoln, Nebraska. Later, Violet worked for Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha until the time of her marriage.  In 1955, Violet married Vernon E. Johnson. They had 7 children. The family moved to San Diego, California, where Violet attended college, and then began working for Pacific Bell in 1969. The family moved to Oregon in 1973. She returned to work a couple of years later, eventually retiring from what was then Qwest. Vernon preceded her in death in 1990.  She married Earl C. Jones in 1997. They enjoyed traveling to all 50 states, square dancing, and spending the winters in sunny Arizona. Earl passed away in 2003. Violet enjoyed delivering meals to seniors and holding various positions within in her church. Her hobbies included playing the piano, playing games, ballroom dancing, and square dancing.  Violet is survived by 5 children: Terry Johnson, Penney Reed, Lorri Sullivan, Kathy Wilder, and Shelley Goldschmidt. She was preceded in death by two children, Garry Johnson and Tammy Menendez, and two grandchildren. Violet was blessed with 22 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.  She wished to be remembered by the following statement: “I thank God for giving me a long, healthy, and happy life and for a deep abiding faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. My prayer has always been that each and every one of my loved ones will know, as I have, the same peace and certainty of God’s love, and that we will all meet again in heaven.”
