Giny passed away July 28, 2012 at home with her family, at age 85. She was born June 3, 1927 in Chattenooga, Tennessee, the fourth of seven children born to Thomas and Daisy Brown. Her family moved to the California Bay area where she spent most of her youth. In 1944, she visited the Medford, Oregon area and from then on the Rogue Valley was her home.
In 1947, she married Warren Hayse. They were married for 20 years and raised three daughters.
Giny started league bowling in 1954, and continued bowling until 2002. She loved arts, crafts, sewing, sports and music, especially the "Big Band" era.
She worked in advertising at the Mail Tribune for seven years and in real estate for five years. She was a bookkeeper the last 12 years for the American Red Cross, retiring at age 71.
In 1998, she married her longtime love, Vern Collins, who survives. She is also survived by her brother, Coe Brown (Elaine); daughters, Jean (Jerry) and Shelley (Kevin); stepdaughters, Candice and Patricia (Walter); stepson, Tim; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one stepgreat-grandchild.
A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, August 3, 2012, 10:00am at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, 1395 Arnold Lane, Medford.
