William (Bill) Newton Garwick, 87, of Medford, Ore., went to be with Jesus on May 15, 2010, from the adult foster home of Paul and Rebecca Sandu, who were total angels to us all. He was born to William E. Garwick and Marie Delilah Campbell, in Gardenplaine, Ill. Bill was looking forward to his 88th birthday on June 23rd.
Bill married Dorothy D. Hansen on October 26, 1949. Dorothy went to be with Jesus on June 7, 1989. Bill and Dorothy had six children, Linda Delores Kaer, of Wasilla, Alaska, Susan Marie Hammond, of Meridian, Idaho, Patti Lynn Mosback, of Vancouver, Wash., William M. Garwick, of Eagle River, Alaska, and Janice Rae Bothwell, of Portland, Ore. His son, Gregory Lee, preceded Bill in death in 1986.
Bill was in the Army from 1943 to 1946. He served in New Guinea and Southern Philippines and then worked for National Cash Register for forty years, in Illinois, Calif., and many years in Oregon. On February 14, 1998, Bill and Fern Darlene Hagler were married at Applegate Christian Fellowship. He then would claim her four sons, James Hagler, of Junction City, Ore., Joseph Hagler and John Hagler, of Medford, Ore., and Joshua Hagler, of Ashland, Ore. From these nine children he is proud to claim 33 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
Bill loved to travel with his wife, Fern. They took cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean. They went to Hawaii yearly and did missionary work in Israel on several occasions. He loved the Lord, going to church and their 55 Alive group. Everyone loved the pie man's pies. He and his pies will be missed.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held at 5:00 p.m., at the Applegate Christian Fellowship on Saturday, May 22.
